When a parent types "best coaching centre near me" or asks an AI assistant "which school in Srinagar offers CBSE Class 10 coaching?", they get an answer, not just a list of links. Three overlapping practices decide whether your institute is in that answer:
- SEO (search engine optimisation): ranking in Google's results.
- AEO (answer engine optimisation): being the direct answer in featured snippets, voice search and AI answers.
- GEO (generative engine optimisation): being mentioned and cited by AI tools that write responses.
This guide shows how an educational institute can do all three, using the same set of habits.
Start with Local SEO
Most admissions searches are local. Start there.
- Google Business Profile. Choose the correct category (school, coaching centre, training institute), add all timings, services, photos and a link to your site. Post updates regularly.
- Reviews. Ask parents and students for honest reviews, and reply to each. Never buy reviews.
- NAP consistency. Name, address and phone must match everywhere: website, directories, social profiles.
- Location pages. If you have several branches, give each its own page with its own address, map and contact.
A live example of a local coaching site is Career Classes, which targets Bemina, Srinagar and Classes 5 to 12.
Pick Keywords Parents Actually Use
Parents search by class, board, subject, location and problem. Examples (adapt to your area):
- "CBSE Class 10 maths coaching in [area]"
- "best school for [board] in [city]"
- "fees for [course] in [city]"
- "online tuition for Class 9 science"
Use Google Search Console, Google autocomplete and "People also ask" to collect real phrases. Our guide on how to do keyword research walks through it, and what keyword research is covers the basics. SeoLoop offers simple SEO checks you can run on your pages.
Build Pages That Match Each Search
Create one page for each important service, not one page for everything:
- Each course or class (with syllabus, timings, fees or a request-fee button, teacher names)
- Admissions process and dates
- Fees and scholarships
- Facilities and location
- FAQs for parents
Write for people first. Use clear headings, short paragraphs and real details.
AEO: Write Answer-First Content
Answer engines pull short, direct answers from pages that state them clearly. To qualify:
- Put the answer in the first sentence. "Admissions for Class 9 open in March. Parents can apply online or visit the office between 10 am and 4 pm."
- Use question headings. "What are the fees for Class 10 coaching?" then answer in two to three sentences.
- Add a short FAQ section on each key page.
- Use lists and tables for timings, fees, documents required and steps.
- Add FAQ and Organization schema (structured data) so search engines understand the content. Google has reduced FAQ rich results for most sites, but the markup still helps machines read your page.
Our explainer on AI Overviews and "what is" queries shows how definition-style content is used in AI answers.
GEO: Be the Source AI Tools Trust
Generative tools build answers from pages they can read and from sources they find reliable. Nobody can guarantee a citation, but these habits make one more likely:
- Be specific and factual. Real names, dates, courses, locations and numbers you can prove.
- Be consistent across the web. The same description of your institute on your site, Google profile, social pages and directories.
- Publish original information. Your own syllabus breakdowns, exam calendars, study plans and parent guides.
- Show who wrote it. Add an author or institute name, and a last-updated date.
- Earn mentions. Local news, education blogs and directories that reference you help AI tools confirm you exist.
- Keep pages crawlable. Do not block search or AI crawlers in robots.txt unless you intend to. Make sure pages load fast and work on mobile.
Our post on social search also explains why video and social posts feed discovery.
Technical Basics That Still Matter
- HTTPS and a fast website; good hosting helps. See HostMeOnline or ViberCloud.
- Mobile-friendly layout, since most parents browse on phones.
- A sitemap submitted in Search Console.
- Clean URLs and descriptive page titles under about 60 characters.
- Image alt text that describes the photo.
If you need a custom school or coaching site, or a portal for admissions and fees, OpenLoop builds those.
Content Ideas That Earn Links and Citations
- "CBSE vs JKBOSE: key differences for parents"
- "Class 10 exam preparation calendar"
- "How to choose a coaching centre: a parent checklist"
- "Documents needed for school admission"
- Free printable worksheets or syllabus maps (see Peducation for an example of free educational content)
